completely change how people interact with computers is being developed at
the Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratories. Over the past five years, a team led by Sandia
cognitive psychologist Chris Forsythe has been working on creating
intelligent machines: computers that can accurately infer intent, remember
prior experiences with users, and allow users to call upon simulated experts
to help them analyze problems and make decisions. Forsythe's team was originally trying to create a
"synthetic human" -- software capable of thinking like a person --
for use in national defense. The thinking software was to create profiles of
specific political leaders or entire populations. Once programmed, the
synthetic human(s) could, along with analytic tools, predict potential
responses to various hypothetical situations. But along the way, the experiment took a different
turn. Forsythe needed help with the software, and asked
some of the programmers in Sandia's robot lab for assistance. The robotics

intelligent machines, and the research's focus quickly morphed from creating

be acting a bit neurotic? Maybe it's just their personality. Recently, a team
of researchers has designed computer-coded genomes for artificial creatures
in which a specific personality is encoded. The ability to give artificial
life forms their own individual personalities could not only improve the
natural interactions between humans and artificial creatures, but also
initiate the study of “The Origin of Artificial Species,” the researchers
suggest… …The first artificial creature to receive the genomic
personality is Rity, a dog-like software character
that lives in a virtual 3D world in a PC. Rity’s
genome is composed of 14 chromosomes, which together are composed of a total
of 1,764 genes, each with its own value. Rather than manually assign the gene
values, which would be difficult and time-consuming, the researchers proposed
an evolutionary process that generates a genome with a specific personality

La consciencia desaparece y resurge cambiada de un instante a otro y actúa de manera discriminatoria y parcial ya que existe un aferramiento a lo percibido como deseable, un rechazo contra lo no-deseable e indiferencia a lo neutro. Este constante movimiento genera insatisfacción o sufrimiento al no poder controlar cómo esos objetos percibidos aparecerán. Todos los cinco agregados son impermanentes e inestables. Por eso en ninguno de ellos se podrá encontrar la esencia del ser o del yo.
