ROBÓTICA
Industria

revista Applied Bionics and Biomechanics .

Mass. [06.30.08] “Scientists
at Tufts University have received a $3.3 million contract from the U.S.
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop chemical robots
that will be so soft and squishy that they will be able to squeeze into
spaces as tiny as 1 centimeter, then morph back into something 10 times
larger, and ultimately biodegrade. The
advantages of using unmanned devices to conduct dangerous or difficult
operations are clear, and the U.S. has invested in such devices for years.
But today's rigid robots, constructed mostly of hard materials, are unable to
navigate complex environments with openings of arbitrary size and shape. They
are stymied by, say, a building whose only access points may be a crack under
a door or a conduit for an electrical cable.” http://enews.tufts.edu/stories/168/2008/06/30/TuftstoDevelopMorphingChemicalRobots Mr Wu -

ordenadores y robots Publicado
Adam? Nos lo cuentan David Waltz, Bruce G. Buchanan, “Automating
Science,” Science 324: 43-44, 3 April 2009 , que se hacen eco de los
artículos técnicos de Michael Schmidt, Hod Lipson, “Distilling
Free-Form Natural Laws from Experimental Data,” Science 324: 81-85, 3
April 2009 , y Ross D. King et al., “The
Automation of Science,” Science 324: 85-89, 3 April 2009 .” Maybe

hidden in raw data Using the
digital mind that guides their self-repairing robot, researchers at Cornell
University have created a computer program that uses raw observational data
to tease out fundamental physical laws. The breakthrough may aid the
discovery of new scientific truths, particularly for biological systems, that
have until now eluded detection.” http://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=114495&govDel=USNSF_51 ***************************************************************** ART; A

team of researchers at the University of Maastricht, here in the Netherlands,
are taking a stab at rationalizing connoisseurship, a word that in its
art-historical context refers to the formal process of determining who

hundreds of paintings for telltale patterns. The results, they say, can lend
credence to existing attributions or help dismiss them.” http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=980DE4DB1630F930A25755C0A9629C8B63 *********************************************************** Aaron, el
